Title of research

Online shopping behaviour as a reflection of choice strategy

Principal researcher

Gal Lotem

Invitation paragraph

We would like to invite you to take part in a experiment that forms part of a Masters research project. Before you decide whether you would like to take part it is important that you understand why the research is being done and what it would involve for you. Please take time to read the following information carefully and discuss it with others if you wish. Ask if there is anything that is not clear or if you would like more information.

What is the purpose of the research?

The purpose of the research is to review how individuals interact with an online shopping platform. The study aims to determine whether the interaction can serve as a significant indicator of the strategies individuals use when making online shopping decisions. This could prove useful in designing future online shopping interfaces better suited to individuals with different choice strategies guiding them

Why have I been invited to take part?

Anyone who is older than 18 years is welcome to participate in this experiment.

Do I have to take part?

Participation in the project is completely voluntary, and you are free to choose not to complete the experiment/survey. You can stop participating at any point during the survey by exiting nutty-cards.com.  It is up to you to decide whether to take part or not. If you decide to take part, you are still free to stop participating at any time without giving a reason and the data collected before you exited will not be used in the experiment analysis.

What will happen if I take part?

You will first be asked to provide some basic demographic information about yourself. Then you will be redirect to the instructions for the first part of the experiment. The first part is an online shop where you will have to select a product according to the instructions that were provided. After selecting the product and checking out, you will be redirected to the second part: a survey. Once you complete the survey, you will be debriefed and finished.

The entire experiment should take no longer than 10-20 minutes.

What are the benefits and risks of taking part?

The benefits of participating in this experiment are the contribution of your time and data to further academic knowledge in the user interaction and choice field which are mostly dominated by industry-leaders. This knowledge could contribute to future research in improving user interfaces to suit different users. There are no risks associated with participating in this experiment, as its conditions closely resemble the online interactions you routinely engage in during daily life.

How is the project being funded?

This is a personally funded Masters experiment.

Conflicts of interests

There are no conflicts of interest to the researcher.

What will happen to the results?

The data will be used for an MSc dissertation. In addition, the data may be used in future publications, for example, academic journal publications
